Abstrak

Injectable contraception is one of the most preferred types of contraception among other contraceptives. The use of injectable contraception in the last two decades has experienced a very significant increase. Injectable contraception is an injection method of hormonal contraception which is divided into one-month injections and three-month injections. Three-month contraceptive or DMPA injection containing depot medroxyprogesterone acetate given in a single 150mg injection intramuscularly every 12 weeks. DMPA injectable contraception only contains the hormone progesterone and does not contain the hormone estrogen, weight gain that occurs is a side effect of injectable contraceptives, this side effect is an adjustment of the body to hormonal changes so that the possibility of weight gain that occurs does not last long. use of injectable contraceptives with changes in body weight in mothers in the Makalehi Public Health Center, Siau Barat District, SITARO Regency 

This research is an analytic type of research using a cross sectional study that is descriptive analytic in January 2022 and the research location is at the <akalehi Health Center. The statistical test used is the "Chi-square" statistical test with a 95% confidence degree if < 0.05 

The results showed that the P value = 0.001 while the value of = 0.05 so that the P value = 0.001 < = 0.05. Thus Ho is rejected and H1 is accepted, then there is a relationship between the use of injectable contraceptives with changes in body weight in mothers in the Makalehi Health Center, Siau Barat District, SITARO Regency. 

Conclusion From the results of the study Based on the results of the study, more mothers used new injectable contraceptives than the old injectable contraceptives. The results of the study showed that the weight change of more mothers increased than their weight did not increase. There was a relationship between the use of injectable contraceptives and changes in body weight in mothers. The one who performs injection contraception at the Makalehi Health Center. Suggestions in this study. The results of this study are expected to provide information and knowledge to the public, especially mothers who use injectable contraceptives and provide an overview of the side effects of injectable contraceptives, including changes in body weight.
